Bates Method
The doctor who healed himself American Ophthalmologist Dr. William H. Bates (1860 -1931) was a specialist in children's eyes and involved in the pioneering stages of cataract surgery. He discovered that blurred vision, tired and dry aching eyes [cupped with his hands] revived after 10 minutes of "Palming". Astonished by this;
He set out to provide a vision improvement method for all.
When focussing muscles are stressed they form a band and the lens then has to do ALL of the work. But our relaxed mobile directional muscles are so attached to assist in the focal shift from close to distance work.
BM Vision Trainers work by replacing poor habits with good habits supporting the natural seeing process.
They also teach simple natural vision eye care. Motivate to gain 30 hours of experience in the shortest possible time.
BM is a system of exercises that relax and realign the Brains focussing systems, thereby allowing the eyes to return to an improved state of function for 3 D vision.
The BM is not effective for curing eye diseases.
The key with one's natural vision is firstly to attend to detail of colour and shape noted by the brains visual memory system The poor habit is just to stare and take a 2Dimensional photograph of it. The relaxed brain effectively scans the field of view including the peripheral vision for anything moving and of interest. The eye uses rapid scanning known as the saccadic tremor, which provides upto 40 distinct, images a second to the brain. + Secondly just blinking a lot more up to 12 times a minute; each ^ Blink actually ^ provides an ^ opportunity ^to refocus. Our natural eyes respond to visual stimuli 1.6 Million pixels in a VERY WIDE FIELD OF VISION. Wasted on TV screens and monitors with ±1400 pixels in many of us use daily.

I would not do it if it didn't - not everybody will get back to normal 20/20 vision. You Only need 40/20 to drive legally.
Exercises don't work! Most people want quick fixes - but they very certainly do not know of any alternative- OPTIONS 30 hrs.. Practice!
Will I have to do eye exercises every day forever? No the brain requires 3 - 5 weeks to adjust to new habits.
But I have astigmatism: Astigmatism is the easiest dysfunction to resolve… note No Stigma attached
Can you recommend any books: Yes - but! "Book learning" is one thing, a coach or mentors' another.
Is life style a contributing factor: Of course - BM's argument is that visual dysfunction is a direct result of stress. Stress for some goes to eyes, others backs or thirdly guts as 3-types of people, visual, hearing and feeling.
The case of Aldous Huxley
In 1939, when writer Aldous Huxley at 45 had lost his sight rapidly and needed thick magnifying spectacles minus 28's in order to read. He found BM, and within two years of starting lessons reported that he was able to read without glasses without strain or fatigue. We owe so much to Bates and his followers; by following the simple rules found in Huxley's book "The Art of Seeing".

3-Dimensional seeing habits are challenged by life styles in front of computers and glass wearers.
Any laziness in one eye will reduce its capacity to see things in amazing 3-dimensions or see stereograms easily.
The Aging process in many cases is just - One eye does the driving and the other does the reading work.
Note Many exercises that relax vision stress take only as little as 6 seconds.

Every individual will have a unique vision history that gives clues to the causes of the present eyesight condition. How to do SIMPLE BM exercises:
1. Warm Up exercises called Palming in low light
2. Sunning - bright light challenge work and healing.
3. Splashing and eye care - blood circulation.
4. Blinking work with charts at detail.
5. Roving eyes for harmony in the extrinsic muscles.
6. Swaying - movement challenges posture and saccadic movement.
7. Mindful simple awareness and relaxation techniques, with full breathing, benefit the eyes; remind us of our 4 other senses and our intuition. Close up encounters.
8. Simply take a break from your workplace by seeing a flower arrangement or just a walk in the garden or park / forest or along the beach. Just for your brain.

Vision Abuse in the workplace
Today's world of computer screens and televisions coupled with prolonged periods in work places with stressful glare and artificial lighting are just some of the common ways in which we cheerfully abuse our eyes.
Note computers aren't the problem!
The Bates Method is not a quick fix … and requires some discipline on the part of the student.
